Frequently Asked Questions
What if the weather is bad?
Our sessions run in all weathers, and a field shelter is available to keep groups protected once on site. We view changing conditions as part of the outdoor experience, so please dress appropriately.
If we are able to run the session safely, bookings cannot be rescheduled or refunded. Choosing not to attend in these circumstances will be treated as a cancellation, and standard charges will apply.
In the rare event of severe weather—such as high winds, extreme cold, or other unavoidable circumstances—we may offer an alternative activity, an alternative venue, or postpone the session to a later date.
Do I need to book in advance?
We strongly recommend booking ahead, as we can rarely accommodate walk‑ins.
Our senior instructors are teachers, so sessions run only at weekends and during school holidays.
Booking in advance ensures availability and avoids disappointment.
When I arrive at Wood-Sage, what happens to my vehicle?
All vehicles can be parked in the yard outside Meadow Mill, just 100 metres from our meadow.
If you’re in a 4×4, you may drive up to our gate, but this is entirely at your own risk.
Is there anywhere to buy refreshments on site?
No, we don’t provide food, but there are several nearby supermarkets with cafés if you’d like to eat before or after your session.
How do I book and pay?
Please email Simon@wood-sage.co.uk or use the Contact Us form with your details and requirements. We’ll then provide a quote and confirm availability.
A £50 deposit is required to secure your booking, payable via online banking using your name and activity date as the reference. The remaining balance is due on the day of your session.
Arrival Times
Please arrive at the designated meeting point 10 minutes before your session start time to allow for sign‑in and a full safety briefing. The time shown on your booking confirmation is the start time, not the arrival time.
All participants must complete sign‑in and attend the safety briefing before taking part. Late arrivals are normally treated as a cancellation, with all fees forfeited, and you may be turned away.
Please plan your journey carefully and allow extra time for any delays.
What about first aid and anyone having an accident?
All Wood‑Sage staff are fully trained and qualified in first aid, and a comprehensive first aid kit is always on site. We have detailed risk assessments and emergency procedures in place, though we’ve never had to use them thanks to our excellent safety record.
Do I need any special clothing or equipment?
We provide all necessary specialist PPE, including eye protection. Please wear clothing you don’t mind getting dirty—it’s all part of the outdoor experience.
Long hair must be tied back, and proper footwear is essential. No open‑toed shoes or flip‑flops, as items may be dropped during activities.
